"Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart." – Elizabeth Andrew
The Covid-19 pandemic has brought out problems and hardships for the whole of humanity. It is the time to rise above our inhibitions and experience the human spirit of community, kindness and gratitude. In South Asian countries alone 391 million students have been kept out of schools. The biggest issue being that majority of them, especially the ones studying in government funded schools and budget private schools have not even got online education.
Most students in India do not have personal devices. Even with those who have devices, connectivity is a huge challenge. Many studies indicate that as many as five million students may just drop out of school as a result of the lockdowns.
At VFC, we are committed to helping at least the ones we can reach out to. Currently, we work with four government schools and two budget private schoolsin the National Capital Region. VFC has also raised funds and crowd sourced devices for many of these students.
If you believe in the cause and are determined to do something to address the situation, here's your chance. We are looking for people who love to teach children and can do so remotely.
Here is a unique opportunity where you can add meaning to children's lives. All you have to do is commit to 1.5 to 2 hours a week for a minimum of three months, to take one-on-one sessions with primary school students from Government run schools. Given the learning gaps these students have even when schools are functional, we find this a sustainable model, even when schools reopen.
We are committed to enabling continuity of teaching and learning for as many children as we can – with your support. We are counting on you to bring hope and education back into these children's lives – one child at a time, one school at a time.
